About Our Firm

CJ Spady began her practice in 2002, after many years of working with Price Waterhouse and in industry in various roles including: Controller, Global Budget Director, and CFO, to name a few. The firm was founded out of her passion to bring the skills learned in the larger corporate world to the small to medium sized business entrepreneur.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make the broad financial skills available to the small to medium sized business and individuals. All businesses, big and small, need to understand their financial situation on a day to day basis. All businesses need to allocate scarce financial resources amongst various options, watch cash flow, and plan for the future. Sometimes the right opportunity comes about and an opportunity to sell the business may be in front of you. When that happens, you’ll need extra fire power on your team to navigate some of the financial requirements to comply with the terms of the sale. Whatever the case may be for your business, you have the potential to hire a CFO for your business who is available for you on an “as needed basis” through our team.

Many self employed individuals face the same questions as big businesses. For example, how much money am I making? What kind of financial reports should I be looking at? Does it make sense to incorporate? Should I pay myself a salary? The lists of questions are endless. It’s our mission to help businesses find the answers that they need.

Individuals also have a need to understand the complexities of the tax system we are all part of. Explaining the complex in simple terms can go along way to ease stress and elevate understanding. Our mission is to help individuals in that way also.

CJ founded her practice in 2002, after working in both public accounting and industry roles. She graduated from the University of Virginia and then became an auditor with Price Waterhouse in Atlanta. From there she held various private industry roles, including Controller, Chief Financial Officer, Global Budget Director, to name a few. CJ is a CPA, earning her credentials in 1989, holding an active CPA license in California. She also holds a Masters of Taxation degree earned at Golden Gate University. CJ is active in the Sausalito community and is an avid boater.

Tracy Grocott, CPA (State of North Carolina)

Tracy joined our team in 2007. Previously, she was a Senior Auditor with Arthur Andersen & Co. and held several Corporate Controller roles for several publicly traded companies. She is a Tarheel, graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in Business Administration, concentrating in accounting. She obtained her CPA credentials in 1992 and is a currently licensed CPA (North Carolina).

Mary Davis, CPA (State of Virginia)

Mary worked as a Senior/Tax Accountant for two firms in the Tidewater, Virginia area. A graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk obtaining a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics, she later returned to ODU procuring her CPA license in Virginia in 2014. Mary received her CPA credential while working with CJ’s cousin Bill Robins, whose prominent and well respected CPA practice has been serving the Chesapeake, Virginia area for over 40 years. Although Mary came aboard our team in 2015, she has been a valued member of our extended family for much longer, and will continue to thrive with us in the years ahead.
